Bustani (بستاني) is your smart assistant for plant care. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have.
Bustani is developed and published by Smart Code Internet Solutions (“we”, “us”, “our”).
1. Summary
- Sign-in: You may use Bustani as a guest or sign in with Google or Apple (Sign in with Apple).
- On your phone: Preferences, session tokens, and a device identifier may be stored locally.
- On our server: When you chat, diagnose plants, or save plants, we store the data needed to run the service.
- AI: Your messages and plant photos may be processed by trusted AI providers to generate advice.
- No ads: We do not show ads or sell your personal data for advertising.
2. Information We Collect
Account information (Google or Apple Sign-In)
When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive:
- Your name (if you choose to share it)
- Your email address (Apple may provide a private relay address)
- Your profile picture URL (Google Sign-In only, when available)
- A unique account identifier from the provider you used
We do not ask for or store a separate password. Authentication is handled entirely by Google or Apple.
Device identifier
We generate and store a device identifier on your phone and send it with API requests. This helps us:
- Offer a limited free trial for guests
- Enforce daily limits on image uploads
- Prevent abuse of the service
Location (optional)
If you grant permission, we use your approximate location to tailor gardening advice to your region and season. You can revoke location access anytime in your device settings.
Chats and images
- Text messages you send in chat
- Photos you upload for plant identification, diagnosis, or chat
- Conversation history (when signed in)
Plant library
- Plant names, notes, care schedules, and photos you add
- Garden care plans you create or follow
Usage data
- Number of messages and images used per day
- App version and basic technical logs needed to operate the API
3. How We Use Your Information
- Provide AI-powered plant care advice and diagnosis
- Save your plants, chats, and care plans when you are signed in
- Personalize tips based on location and season (if permitted)
- Enforce fair-use limits and protect the service from abuse
- Maintain security, fix errors, and comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal data.
4. AI Processing
When you send a message or photo, the content may be transmitted to trusted third-party AI service providers to generate responses.
AI-generated advice is for general gardening help only. It is not a substitute for professional agricultural, veterinary, or legal advice. Always verify critical decisions locally.
5. Third-Party Services
We share only what is necessary with:
- Google and Apple: for Sign-In authentication
- AI providers: to process your messages and plant images
- Hosting providers: to store accounts, chats, and uploaded images securely
These providers process data on our behalf to deliver the service. Their own privacy policies may also apply.
6. Storage and Retention
- On your device: until you clear app data or uninstall.
- Uploaded images: stored on our servers in folders linked to your account (or guest device folder).
- Chats and plants: kept while your account is active.
- After account deletion: we review deletion requests manually, then remove your account data and associated files.
7. Security
Connections to our servers use encryption (HTTPS). We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. No online service can guarantee perfect security — please keep your device and your Google or Apple account protected.
8. App Permissions
- Internet: required for chat, diagnosis, and syncing your data.
- Camera / Photos: to photograph plants for identification and diagnosis.
- Location: optional, for regional gardening advice.
9. Children
Bustani is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Your Rights and Choices
- Revoke location, camera, or photo permissions in your device settings.
- Delete individual chat conversations from the app.
- Request account deletion from within the app (processed manually).
- Contact us to ask questions about your data, depending on laws in your country.
11. International Processing
Our servers and service providers may be located outside your country. By using Bustani, you understand that your data may be processed where those services operate.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
13. Request Account and Data Deletion
Bustani by Smart Code Internet Solutions — how to delete your data:
1. From the app
- Open Account → request Delete account.
- Your request is reviewed manually. We then delete your account, chats, plants, and uploaded images linked to your account.
2. By email
- Email support@bustani.ae with the subject Data deletion request.
- Include the email address linked to your Bustani account (from Google or Apple Sign-In).
What is deleted vs kept
- Deleted: account profile, chats, plant library, and uploaded images tied to your account.
- On device: clear app data or uninstall to remove local tokens and preferences.
- May remain briefly: server backups for a limited period, then purged per our retention routine.
We respond to deletion requests within a reasonable time (typically 30 days).
